CreaVET Seminar: Exploring Creativity and Innovation in Vocational Education
On February 18, 2025, the CreaVET seminar was held at Volterra Elia School in Ancona, exclusively for its students and their teachers. The event was part of the CreaVET Erasmus+ project, aiming to introduce Problem-Based Learning (PBL) as an innovative approach to Vocational Education and Training (VET).
The seminar began with an overview of CreaVET, highlighting how PBL can enhance problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork skills. Students and teachers explored how this methodology helps prepare learners for real-world challenges by promoting active learning and collaboration.
During the session, participants engaged in interactive workshops, working on case studies and real-life scenarios using the PBL method. These activities demonstrated the effectiveness of experiential learning compared to traditional teaching methods.
A brainstorming session encouraged discussions on creativity in education, focusing on how digital tools, interdisciplinary collaboration, and artistic approaches can make learning more engaging.
The seminar concluded with a highly interactive activity, where students and teachers worked together on a practical challenge, applying the knowledge gained throughout the session. This final exercise reinforced the importance of teamwork and problem-solving in education.
The CreaVET seminar at Volterra Elia demonstrated how innovative teaching strategies can transform vocational education, equipping students with the skills needed for the future.
GOODWILL took part in the national event Wellbeing Week. Students looked for different ways of managing stress using problem-based learning methods, among other things.
In February GOODWILL students and their teacher visited the exhibitions of paintings in 2 galleries and ended the morning with a tour of the exhibition in a small café. The students were guided through the exhibitions by the organizer Dr. Karel Bogar.

Practice Book of “Creativity and Problem Solving with PBL in VET” for VET Students
(Prepared by FEPSET)
Contents:
Creating a Mural with Creativity with Sustainability
This Practice Book serves as a practical guide detailing how teachers can apply PBL methodologies to stimulate creativity and problem-solving skills in VET students. The document focuses on providing clear, structured instructions to facilitate the use of examples and practical cases.
The Turkish team created the Reference Book, which contains theoretical concepts and fundamental principles of PBL and creativity in the VET context. The Portuguese team used this theoretical document as a basis to develop practical applications that guide teachers.
Problem-Solving Based Learning in Creativity Units
During this seminar, students from the video game specialization course
actively applied innovative methods to boost creativity and critical thinking
through Problem-Solving Based Learning (PBL).
The seminar was divided into two main units:
Students not only worked on the technical aspects of each project but
also applied critical thinking, collaborative problem-solving, and gamification
techniques. This hands-on approach allowed them to experience how these methods
improve essential skills in educational and professional settings.
The students’ enthusiasm and active participation were remarkable. They demonstrated their ability to solve complex challenges and showed strong commitment to the projects. Many of them expressed interest in using these techniques in future developments, recognizing the positive impact of these experiences on their learning and professional growth.

Introducing the CreaVET Project: Creativity and problem-solving learning in VET
A
group of students from FEPSET have taken part on the training program to raise
awareness and develop creativity and problem-solving skills using PBL.
Initially,
some theoretical concepts were discussed and clarified and the students
reflected on the importance of creativity for their vocational and future
professional careers. They analysed the soft skills required in order to
promote the capacity to solve complex and new problems, as well as
methodologies and practices.
Beginning
with the Interdisciplinary Project, the students were confronted with an
initial problem that needed to be solved using such skills as critical and
divergent thinking, problem-solving, cooperative working and innovation
capacity, in order to generate possible solutions. They worked, both in
individually and in groups to
Furthermore,
in order to broaden their minds, they had in immersive experience, which
combines art and innovation. They went to a gallery in Lisbon to visit the
exhibition “Living Van Gogh”, where the artists’ paintings were projected on
the walls of place, in an audio-visual show and, later, they were transported
into his paintings with virtual reality glasses.
