 Intellectual Output - 3 (IO-3):

Survey  of "Gaining Creativity and Problem Solving Skills with PBL"

(Prepared by COMMUNIA  ASSOCIAZIONE CULTURALE )

AIMS

Nowadays, the main point of education is not to teach reading, writing or arithmetic, but it is to teach how to use soft required for sustainability and lifelong education in addition to basic education.

The development of soft skills is a process that requires the collaboration of both teachers/educators and learners as the top-down nature of traditional training is not anymore enough. We need to create a space to "release" the inclinations and personalities of learners to develop soft skills. The survey report was developed by the consortium taking into account the situation, perception, expectations and will of both teachers and learners. The main objective is therefore to find out points of convergence or controversial situations in the relationship between teachers and students as well as between educational institutions of different countries.

METHODOLOGY

Two identical surveys were developed: one for teachers and one for students. Google Form was used in anonymous mode. The partners from Turkey, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Lithuania and Spain were responsible for disseminating the survey to 20 teachers and 50 students, while the Italian partner was  responsible for collecting and processing the data, as well as preparing the report.

The survey obtained 106 answers out of 100 for teachers and 285 answers out of 250 for students.

I. Questions about the use of soft skills methodologies (active by teachers and passive for students)  with 5 potential options (ALWAYS/OFTEN, SOMETIMES, NOT SURE, NOT SO MUCH, NEVER).  In order  to aggregate and simplify the understanding, the answers ALWAYS and SOMETIMES have been  considered POSITIVE, all the others NEGATIVE.

II. Questions about the feelings, personal perception and relations with teachers with 5 potential  options (STRONGLY AGREE, AGREE, NOT SURE, DISAGREE, STRONGLY DISAGREE).  In order to aggregate and simplify the understanding, the answers STRONGLY AGREE and AGREE have been considered POSITIVE, all the others NEGATIVE.

III. Questions about age, subject of study and methodology’s preference for students and effective  teaching years, teaching’s subject and methodology preference for teachers. The open answers used for the subject and methodology have been interpreted by the analyst taking into account clarity and level of understanding for readers.
