Skill Competition in Czechia

Implementing a creative presentation competition for my field of study

with PBL

On 21 May 2025, a competition for the creative presentation of my field of study with learning difficulties took place at Goodwill - Higher Vocational School Ltd., which was implemented within the Erasmus+ Ka220 VET (CreaVET) project number 2023-1-TR01-KA220-VET-000152095.

The aim of the event was in line with the project objective, i.e. to promote creative learning. Students competed in the categories Foreign Trade, Tourism Business and Tourism Animation. It was a competition in groups of three to four persons. The judges were teachers of vocational subjects, a practitioner and final year students. First and second year students took part in the activities.

The main objective was to promote creativity in vocational education using PBL. Students were asked to understand the nature of problem-based learning and prepare a project to help transfer vocational knowledge using creative approaches. The main aim was not seriousness but to enhance creative approaches, communication, teamwork and cross-curricular links (e.g. marketing, animation activities, project management, communication techniques, computing, presentation techniques, etc.). The groups were given the following assignments in advance: a Creative Presentation on the theme of differentiating oneself from the competition, a Creative Business Plan for beautifying the school environment and a Creative Activity that will appropriately complement vocational education. The assignment was the same for each category and the objective was to present the topic or moderate the activity. Each group created its own name and slogan.

Not only the quality of the presentation was evaluated, but also the preparation and planning of the project and the approach to problem solving.

Students demonstrated an understanding of the principle of problem-based learning, were able to apply creativity in the transfer of professional competencies and the ability to evaluate objectively. Thanks to the collaboration on the project, the links between students and teachers were strengthened. The aim of the project was achieved.
